Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro Palettes.

IMAG3684_1

I’ve been doing a lot of high end hauling lately, and while it’s been fun discovering the benefits, differences and advantages of luxury products, I realise that not everyone can or is willing to hand over hundreds of dollars for just a few pieces. Trust me, I’m also a fan of getting a whole bunch of stuff for $80 versus just getting one thing. When my boxes arrive and I open them to a bunch of stuff, my happy place gets happier. So I decided to take it down a thousand and bring you guys some really awesome drugstore products that only really differ from higher end ones in the form of their price tags, starting with these.

Makeup Revolution X British Beauty Blogger Fortune Favours The Brave Eye Shadow Palette.

IMAG0196_1

I’ve been banging around with this chick for around a week now, and let me tell you it’s been fun, but I was completely unprepared for the pigmentation and subsequent blending struggles. Completely my fault tho, so…

I don’t know if you guys are familiar with her, since the name seems rather generic yeah? But British Beauty Blogger is one of my personal favourite bloggers. I like her because she gets a bit of everything, skincare, hair care, makeup and she’s thorough. She covers all skin tones and skin types, drug store and high end brands. The lady Jane knows her stuff.

So I was pretty stoked when I realised that she and MR had got together and had a love child. Listen, I wasn’t prepared. I thought I was, but really? I wasn’t, not for all that colour. First tip, don’t dig your brush into the pans, you’ll regret it. You’re just not grown enough for all that pigmentation.

Makeup Revolution New-Trals vs. Neutrals Palette

IMAG0347

Let’s get this out the way right off the top. This palette and I are not at all getting along. This is the palette that everyone of saying is another Makeup revolution dupe for the Sweet Peach palette. While that might be true (I don’t really see it it looks more like the ABH Modern Renaissance to me), but hey, what do I know?

Makeup Revolution Chocolate Vice Palette. Sweet Peach Dupe Maybe? Hmmm…

This one goes out to all the girls that wanted a Too Faced Sweet Peach palette and were unable to get one, because they were completely sold out everywhere in under five minutes. It goes out to all the ladies that were completely and utterly disgusted by the s&%tty marketing tactics employed by Too Faced in making this palette less than widely available. And this…is to all those people who purchased 10 palettes and turned around and sold them on eBay for over a hundred dollars. A giant FU to those a-holes.

Makeup isn’t supposed to be this hard man. I mean this palette had been so hyped up on social media for so many months that Too Faced knew the demand would be crazy. Yet, they still didn’t make enough for their website (or enable enough servers to keep the site from crashing yet again, what is that they say about experience informing wisdom? Clearly we’ve been lied to) or enough available to their distribution partners like Sephora and Ulta. By the time that I was able to get a Sweet Peach palette (Ulta released it two weeks early for 24hrs to platinum members), I was so thoroughly disgusted by all the shenanigans that I passed on it just on principle. Fast forward months later, and I found myself unwittingly purchasing two dupes, having no idea that’s what they were. I’m only gonna do one today though.

Dupe Alert! Makeup Revolution’s New Ultra Strobing Cream & Blur Primer…So Worth It!

IMAG0170

So loooong after I purchased these, I realised something. The Blur Primer is a dupe for either the YSl Touche Eclat Blur Primer which is $52 or the Guerlain L’Or Pure Radiance Primer which is $74. And although both rock, this is just as good for a whole lot less, in truth it’s closer in consistency and performance to the YSl and I actually prefer this one, YSL primers and I don’t seem to mesh well. Since I have to re-upload my blog life, I thought I’d just  update this post to reflect that, also when I purchased this it was only available on the MUR website, it’s now available at Ulta.com. You’re welcome and enjoy.

These were a total whim, I mean I got them because they were new, and I wasn’t really sure what a strobing cream was all about and I had to know, just had to. The primer I got because at that particular time I hated all of the ones I had, it bes like that sometimes.

The Year in Makeup Favourites 2016.

Happy freaking new year ya’ll!! I promise in 2017, I’m gonna get my blogging life together. Maybe. Ok, probably not but I’m gonna try real hard. This year was just a complete a-hole that you wanted to throat punch constantly, and it ended with George Michael dying on frikkin CHRISTMAS DAY!!! Like, what the actual F%$K 2016?!

I drove to my sisters house jamming to Last Christmas (best Christmas song EVER), and came home to Twitter on fire. I always snicker when I hear people upset about celebrities that die, like what the hell, do you even know them? Can I just say though?

This one hurt, really badly. I’m sure he’d never remember me, but not only have I been absolutely in love with George Michael since I was ten, but I’ve met him a few times when I was working for a magazine and wound up repeatedly at NYFW much to my dismay.

He was friends with the original super models and a slew of the designers so he could usually be seen in the tents in the early 90’s. Talk about a ridiculously kind, humble, personable individual that always seemed slightly uncomfortable with the adulation he received. Beyond that, there was just some indefinable quality about his music, post Faith after he found his own voice, that’s simultaneously uplifting and despairing. Listen Without Prejudice Vol. I is still my favourite album. So really, is anyone reealllyy sad to see 2016 go?

What’s New At The Drugstore: Makeup Revolution Hashtag Slogan Palettes & Pro Glow Illuminator Palette.

IMAG6637

Listen, I’m catching up season 6 of Suits as I’m writing this review, so I can’t be held responsible for any incoherence that may occur. That being said…

Makeup Revolution debuted these really cute hashtag palettes. there are three palettes that range from neutrals to jewel tones and each one comes with a complimentary eye primer. They aren’t the largest palettes, they can fit into your palm pretty easily, but what they lack in size they make up for in colour. I got the No Photos Please and Slay Palettes.

What’s New At The Drugstore+Dupe Alert! Makeup Revolution Retro Luxe Matte Lip Kits.

IMAG6787

Makeup Revolution has a bunch of new stuff available on the Ulta site, and I should stress though that it’s only new to Ulta because a lot of them have been available since late December, early January. These are obviously a dupe for the Kylie Lips Kits of which I own none, and never will, but the idea of having a perfectly paired lip liner without having to purchase it separately intrigues me so I got all the available colours. As of right now there are only five shades in the Retro Luxe Matte range available from Ulta. Noble, Echelon, Regal, Reign and Grandee.
