I Stopped Using Primer For Two Weeks & Here’s What Happened.

So I dunno if you guys remember, but I’ve been moaning for a few months now that no matter what I do, my foundation seems to keep playing slip and slide on my face.

I’ve switched moisturisers, used a combination of primers at the same time. I’ve used mattifying agents before and after my foundation. Dude nothing worked. All of my foundations refused to set, or my face got oily about two hours after application.

My routine looks like this. Wash, moisturise, sunscreen, primer, colour corrector, translucent powder over the colour corrector so that it stays in place in that order. Depending on how I’m feeling I may use powder on the oil prone parts of my face before I put my foundation on.

Then, after all of that, foundation. I have a pretty decent stable of primers, but there are a few that I tend to use more than others. Up until recently all the primers that I’m gonna list worked wonderfully, this problem just cropped up recently. So this may turn into a “Great Primers” post also, two birds y’all.

(Re-Upload) Brown Girls Rejoice! Your Bronzer Has Finally Arrived.

IMAG1173_1

I spied this baby today when I went to Sephora to pick up the Teint Fusion foundation. Some wonderful soul named Paige, had given me a birthday gift card, so I was able to get them both. Plus we both wanted to check out the foundation, she has the pale girl problems to my brown girl bemoaning when it come to makeup. I’ll have a review of that foundation coming up soon, but I must say, Sephora has definitely been impressing me all year starting with the Marsala debut.

NEW!! Jouer Cosmetics Limited Edition Spring Collection.

IMAG7309_1

Since I’ve been trying to get posts back on the site after losing most of them, I haven’t been doing a whole lot of purchasing because I’ve been distracted. But like the Too Faced collection, I had actually set an alarm for this launch way ahead of time and was checked out of the website probably five minutes after it dropped. In fact I was done minutes before I received the official launch email from Jouer.

The collection is mostly rose gold themed and contains an eye shadow palette, two lip products in a rose gold shade and a powder highlighter also in rose gold.

The lip cream is probably my least favourite so far, but I sort of knew that going in.

(Re-Upload) Kat Von D Shade and Light Two Tone Blush.

IMAG2769

No. Really, just freaking no!

Maaaan…look, this is not going to be good, like at. all.

When I first saw that these had finally dropped, I was so happy. They just appeared on the Sephora site all quiet like. I immediately grabbed Hansel & Gretel because that warm terracotta shade called to me, and then I saw Morticia and Gomez and not only for the colour but the name friend, it had to be mine. Nothing can really describe the disappointment that I felt upon finally opening my package, but first let me tell you what these are supposed to be.

(Re-Upload) Lena Lashes Liquid More Matte Than Matte Liquid Lipsticks.

IMAG3351_1

I think I’m low-key trying to own all the liquid lipsticks. This might be my desperate cry for help.

I first heard of Lena Lashes liquid lipsticks through social media cause does anyone do actual adverts anymore? Like do brands hire PR firms and have advertising budgets still? I mean more power to them cause Bloggers and Vloggers are free (for the most part) so…Anywhoo, I saw these swatched by Jackie Aina on her YouTube channel that I follow. I love Jackie, she’s funny as hell, she’s honest and she’s not afraid to tackle the big stuff like representation in the beauty industry, perceptions of beauty. Unlike a lot of beauty guru’s she’s fearless and unapologetic.

(Re-Upload) A Sexy 3Sum With Guerlain.

IMAG3036

After my great experience with the Guerlain Meteorites compact, I decided that maybe I needed to explore the brand a bit. I actually had one thing tucked away in the back of my “Never Gonna Use But What The Hell Do I Do With It” drawer, we all have one, don’t front. This is something that my mum had given me a while back, I want to say a year ago, but it may have been longer, the plastic on the box hadn’t even been removed. To tell the truth I have no idea where she got it, she and my sister disappeared for like a week to Miami I think and she came back with this knowing my finishing powder obsession, but like I said at the time I’d thought of Guerlain as a very dated brand, and getting it from my mum did nothing to diminish that perception.

(Re-Upload) The Luxury Makeup Rampage Continues With Chantecaille

IMAG2632

I got the Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation because I’d heard nothing but seriously excellent things about it. But legit? When I first tried it, I friggin hated it with a cold a brittle passion, because it seemed it had no coverage whatsoever. I did a “Yo, are you frigging kidding me right now? For $76 this is what I effing get”?

Then I calmed the hell down, and decided to work with what I had, so to speak.

(Re-Upload) Guerlain Meteorites Illuminating Powder Compact.

IMAG3288

I’ve heard so many rave reviews of Guerlain’s Meteorites that I’ve wanted to try it forever. Everyone from pale to dark brown girls sing it’s praises. But, I could not ever bring myself to get it because…well, it was just a bit old fashioned looking wasn’t it? I mean every time I look at a container of Guerlain Meteorite pearls, all I can think of is the same container on my Aunt Vi’s vanity when I was seven, and she was already way into her sixties…so yeah. In fact, when I thought of Guerlain at all, I thought dated, so I never gave the brand a second glance really even when my mum gave me something (I didn’t open it till recently so I had no idea what it was) as a gift.
