(Re-Upload) A Sexy 3Sum With Guerlain.

IMAG3036

After my great experience with the Guerlain Meteorites compact, I decided that maybe I needed to explore the brand a bit. I actually had one thing tucked away in the back of my “Never Gonna Use But What The Hell Do I Do With It” drawer, we all have one, don’t front. This is something that my mum had given me a while back, I want to say a year ago, but it may have been longer, the plastic on the box hadn’t even been removed. To tell the truth I have no idea where she got it, she and my sister disappeared for like a week to Miami I think and she came back with this knowing my finishing powder obsession, but like I said at the time I’d thought of Guerlain as a very dated brand, and getting it from my mum did nothing to diminish that perception.

(Re-Upload) The Luxury Makeup Rampage Continues With Chantecaille

IMAG2632

I got the Chantecaille Future Skin Foundation because I’d heard nothing but seriously excellent things about it. But legit? When I first tried it, I friggin hated it with a cold a brittle passion, because it seemed it had no coverage whatsoever. I did a “Yo, are you frigging kidding me right now? For $76 this is what I effing get”?

Then I calmed the hell down, and decided to work with what I had, so to speak.

(Re-Upload) Becca Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation

IMAG3185_1

Whenever I hear the words luminous and foundation in the same sentence, I tend to walk away real fast. For someone that has combination skin that most often veers towards oily, that can turn into you just looking like a greaseball. But, it’s Becca so you know that I had to at least try it, even though that always touted Becca Glow just looks greasy and hot to me.

This foundation was a trial for most people I think, for one thing it only comes in 8 shades. According to Becca they’re flexible enough that they adapt to each person’s individual skin tone. Though how something neutral is going to adapt to my yellow/gold/peach undertones was entirely beyond me, but I decided to be a boss about it and do it anyway.

(Re-Upload) New For Fall: Kiko Milano Neo Noir Collection

IMAG4680

Autumn is officially here. In makeup land anyway. It seems like every year the new collections debut earlier and earlier, soon we’ll be having the Autumn in June. Which you know, won’t suck because I tend to prefer the Fall offerings anyway cause the colour schemes are generally the ones that I prefer cause I’m a boring bitch.

(Re-Upload) Jay Manuel Beauty Filter Finish Foundation.

IMAG0282

After writing this post, the site went live and you can now purchase products directly from Jaymanuelbeauty.com

You guys remember the Jays from America’s Next Top Model? The Ms And Mr?

Well, Mr Jay, that utterly, breathtakingly beautiful specimen, has debuted his own cosmetics line, and it’s available exclusively on HSN.com. Unlike Tyra’s line (also on HSN), which in my opinion is a hot mess from names to shades, and is so substandard, Jay’s products are actually good. I’d ordered a few things, but most of them were on backorder so the first things that I got were the Filter Finish Foundation, and two of the blushes. I didn’t care for the blushes, not because they weren’t good quality, (they are, highly pigmented and wonderfully buildable, smooth finishes) but because the swatches on the HSN site are so bad that they appear significantly darker than they are in real life, plus the cases were so flipping bulky and unwieldy. So I sent them back.

Although the Jay Manuel Beauty site isn’t up for purchases yet, you can still get information on the various products. The description of the Filter Finish Foundation from the Jay Manuel site;

(Re-Upload) Burberry Beauty: Foundations

IMAG2062_1

I think it’s been pretty well documented that I am in fact, a foundation and blush hoarder. You know what though? I’m not even ashamed of it. The foundation came about because even though I moved south and permanently became my northern summer colour, out of habit I kept purchasing the lighter shade that I’d normally have used nine months out of the year, and being very confused by it. It was one of those things where, I’m in the habit of not buying something that I can only use three months out of the year, even though that three months had become the nine. Stupid, I know, but my brain was still in New York time so to speak. Then I rediscovered the peachy-ness in me undertones which set off a whole new hunt. But whatever, I’m rambling as per usual.

(Re-Upload) Burberry Beauty; A Worthy Obsession.

IMAG2062_1

I’ve been on a luxury makeup kick for a few months now. It started right after the wedding around the time of the Sephora VIB/Rouge sale, just before black Friday I think it was. I’m not really sure what came over me. It may have been the euphoria of getting married, or more likely (sorry love) the thrill of getting independent of wedding gifts, more than $400 in Sephora gift cards.

I’ve always said that I don’t see the point of luxury brands of makeup. I feel like the price points are more than a little bit ridiculous, but, I decided that I wanted to see if in fact there were a difference between regular ole brands like Too Faced and Burberry and it’s ilk.

(Re-Upload) Let Me Explain To You Why I’m Obsessed With Le Metier de Beaute

IMAG2382_2

This is possibly the foundation to end all foundation hunts. I promise you. The Le Metier de Beaute Flawless Finish foundation promises you all kinds of magic in a bottle, and trust me, it delivers.

The brand is really famous among makeup enthusiasts for the Kaleidoscope makeup kits, that run over $100 most of the time. I personally didn’t care for the Kaleidoscopes, I just didn’t like the packaging or the format. But I had heard that they had a beauty subscription (that will run you $348 up front for the whole year), called the vault and I wanted to check it up so I went to the website. By the time I got to it, the subscription was closed for the year, but they had items from previous boxes for sale. I personally didn’t know that their cosmetics range was so large, but picked up a few things one of them being this foundation. Of course based on the colour descriptions on the site, I got the wrong shade, but I legit don’t even care.

(Re-Upload) All Bases Covered. Liquid And Powder Foundations.

I usually do some sort of roundup at least once a year. Mostly. Sometimes it’s foundation, but mostly I’ve been doing a lot of skin care for the last few. Not that anything is wrong with that, but since I hoard foundations and blush, why not that instead? When I do a foundation roundup, it’s to say which ones I liked and didn’t like and why not. And that’s because often times I haven’t reviewed most of the of the foundations that I’ve bought. I’ve gotten better about that, so this time we’re gonna do something different. Since I’ve been experimenting more with drug store foundations, I figured that I would show you which ones compare to the mid-tier and luxury brands I’ve also purchased. I’m not going to go into the properties of each and why I like them or not, that would take way to long, and I’ve already reviewed most of them. Instead, I’ll give you the high end brands and the drugstore formulas that in my opinion correspond and add links to the reviews. Once again, my opinion, you may not agree. I’m not sure if I’ll be splitting them up into powders and liquids or what, that all depends on how long this particular post gets, we’ll see at the end. I was going to do blushes as well, but realised that for the most part, I don’t really purchase a lot of high end blushes cause I just love blush so I acquire them wherever I can. But we’re also gonna see how that turns out.

(Re-Upload) Another Kiko Milano Haul.

IMAG4294_1

What can I say? I like the brand. Plus, I knew if I waited patiently some of the things that I wanted from early summer releases would eventually go on sale, and oh baby have they ever! To the tune of over 50% off both the Artist and Lovegrove collections are now on sale. I flirted with the idea of getting a lot more stuff, since over the July 4th weekend, they also had an additional 30% off coupon, but in the end I decided to go ahead and just get the things that I really really wanted, everything else can wait. I also picked up three items from the new Beauty Games collection, there were more items that I wanted from that collection, but I decided to go ahead and get the things that had the highest sell-out probability, I’m not doing a review on those today either, I’ll wait till I get the rest of the items that I want.
