I spied this baby today when I went to Sephora to pick up the Teint Fusion foundation. Some wonderful soul named Paige, had given me a birthday gift card, so I was able to get them both. Plus we both wanted to check out the foundation, she has the pale girl problems to my brown girl bemoaning when it come to makeup. I’ll have a review of that foundation coming up soon, but I must say, Sephora has definitely been impressing me all year starting with the Marsala debut.
The Sephora Sun Disk bronzer is a limited edition bronzer that has an interesting zebra pattern, both on the outside of the packaging, and in the design of the bronzer itself. It’s composed of three satiny colours, that combine to give your face a bronzed, glowing look. There’s a golden beige shade is the lightest shade that brings the other two together, while the apricot adds an overall healthy glow, and the deep golden bronze will warm your complexion. All of the shades contain micro-pearls which adds dimension and radiance to the skin.
For $24, you get a humungous 1.05oz of product that you’re not likely to run out of soon, which is a good thing since it’s limited edition. totally off topic, but I’ve never understood why cosmetics brands debut bronzers in the summer time when most people are already quite bronzed. I personally prefer to use bronzers in the winter when n the days where I’m feeling particularly yellow.
As to the colour and finish, although Sephora claims it to be a universal shade, I think this is probably more suited to olive and darker yellow/golden skin tones cause when Paige tried it, it looked very orange against her pale cool toned skin. I tried to get swatches but it blended so seamlessly into my skin that eventually I gave up. It has a talc-like, perfumey smell which on my face I didn’t quite like, but for whatever reason I kept sniffing the compact, but the finish is so beautiful and natural looking. But best of all? It actually showed up on my very sun darkened skin!
To all the brown girls that have been bemoaning the lack of a deep enough bronzer for our skin tones, this is definitely the one. You need to check this out as soon as you can because it’s limited edition, and because it is the truth!
