Is anyone else hella exhausted by all the sales and new stuff that seems to be dropping daily? Hell I know I am. The Sephora Rouge/VIB sale just freaking ended and here we are at Thanksgiving and now Black Friday once again. I ain’t buying a damn thing else, not least of all because between the Rouge sale and Ulta, I’ve already dropped a tonne of money in the last two weeks.
When Fiona Stiles hit Ulta about…I wanna say maybe a year and a half ago? I was intrigued. I liked the look of the packaging, and the colour combinations looked interesting. But…I’d never heard of Fiona Stiles. Like who was this chick and why was I supposed to care that she had a makeup line now? The price point became the second issue for me. I’m not about to drop almost forty dollars on a single product from a brand that I know nothing about, that’s barely been reviewed. Nah.
I’ve stated repeatedly that if not for being able to find more of the high end brands that I prefer at Sephora and Sephora’s own collection, I’d probably shop at Ulta exclusively. They have a much better rewards programs, it’s light years ahead of Sephora’s. But I also like their high-end, low-end model because it’s a one stop shop. One of the programs that both retailers have and suck at is the birthday rewards program. Sephora has recently gotten marginally by better offering multiple choices, but it’s still geared towards pale people. Ulta? Well…
I swear though, I just troll through beauty sites trying to buy stuff. I mean, I have to be trying cause I don’t in fact need a damn thing. You may never have heard of Lottie London, don’t worry you’re not alone. It’s a drugstore brand, and from what I can tell it’s British. Don’t quote me though, because I’m still a little confused as to their origins. In any case, Lottie London is pretty inexpensive. The most dear thing in the line are the shadow palettes and those clock in at twelve bucks.
I really got this palette because just about everyone was going nuts about it, comparing it to higher end brands and saying it was just as good or better than some. I also got it because I love matte shadows, but I definitely don’t have enough neutral shades. I’ve had pretty shite experiences with Ulta full palettes, the little quads that sometimes come as GWP are generally great, but for some reason the formula doesn’t seem to translate to larger pans.
I’ve been doing a lot of high end hauling lately, and while it’s been fun discovering the benefits, differences and advantages of luxury products, I realise that not everyone can or is willing to hand over hundreds of dollars for just a few pieces. Trust me, I’m also a fan of getting a whole bunch of stuff for $80 versus just getting one thing. When my boxes arrive and I open them to a bunch of stuff, my happy place gets happier. So I decided to take it down a thousand and bring you guys some really awesome drugstore products that only really differ from higher end ones in the form of their price tags, starting with these.
Good morning beauties! And I do mean morning, since I’m writing this the day of at about 9:30am. I’m finally (mostly) able to sit up now, although not for very long stretches. Can I just tell you though? I never realised just how many things you use your back for till this little incident. I’m for real about to get into the gym with the quickness to do some back training exercises because the last week has been frustratingly frustrating.
Anywhoo, I have such a pile of stuff to review for you guys, and I feel like I’ve reached a huge saturation point with my make up, so much so that I need to get rid of most of it, and pare it down to the things that I truly love. That’s gonna be hard for me since I can’t stand to part with my crap. But that’s a story for another day, on to the review.
