In a lot of ways this collection makes so much damn sense it hurts. On the other hand, with the direction that UD has gone in the last decade…this collection then seems to be rather incongruous with the line.
I really got this palette because just about everyone was going nuts about it, comparing it to higher end brands and saying it was just as good or better than some. I also got it because I love matte shadows, but I definitely don’t have enough neutral shades. I’ve had pretty shite experiences with Ulta full palettes, the little quads that sometimes come as GWP are generally great, but for some reason the formula doesn’t seem to translate to larger pans.
Yup, I did it again this year. I mean after last year, I kinda had to didn’t I? I figured it could go one of two ways, I would absolutely love everything that was in it. Or hate it with a passion, not really an in between with this one at all.
I wasn’t all that worried, because generally speaking, Too Faced tends to be inclusive colour-wise, they tend to mostly swing cool toned, but usually darker skinned ladies and fair ladies are represented.
Now, while I didn’t love everything that was in the bag, I didn’t hate any of it either. It was more a case of most of those items not being things that I would pick for myself. This year the bag was advertised as having a value of $137, and costs $4 more than last year at $39. I was able to stack it with a 20% off coupon and got the mystery bag and one other product for a total of $47 with free shipping as the mystery bag always ships free.
I’ve been doing a lot of high end hauling lately, and while it’s been fun discovering the benefits, differences and advantages of luxury products, I realise that not everyone can or is willing to hand over hundreds of dollars for just a few pieces. Trust me, I’m also a fan of getting a whole bunch of stuff for $80 versus just getting one thing. When my boxes arrive and I open them to a bunch of stuff, my happy place gets happier. So I decided to take it down a thousand and bring you guys some really awesome drugstore products that only really differ from higher end ones in the form of their price tags, starting with these.
Hello lovelies! Can I just tell you? I totally spaced on the last few posts. I’ve been so busy, that not only did I not remember to write post, I didn’t even remember what day it was so I couldn’t do a late night emergency post. And if you asked me what it was that made me so busy? Couldn’t tell you. In any case it’s a good thing that I couldn’t do an emergency post because what I have for you today is a bit much.
Since I’ve been trying to get posts back on the site after losing most of them, I haven’t been doing a whole lot of purchasing because I’ve been distracted. But like the Too Faced collection, I had actually set an alarm for this launch way ahead of time and was checked out of the website probably five minutes after it dropped. In fact I was done minutes before I received the official launch email from Jouer. *attempts to pat self on back and fails*
The collection is mostly rose gold themed and contains an eye shadow palette, two lip products in a rose gold shade and a powder highlighter also in, yeah, rose gold.
The lip cream is probably my least favourite so far, but I sort of knew that going in.
You know how sometimes you go to Sephora to return something and end up walking out with a buttload of stuff that costs way more than the things that were going to return? Stop lying, I know, know, that I’m not the only one so please…
I’ve been banging around with this chick for around a week now, and let me tell you it’s been fun, but I was completely unprepared for the pigmentation and subsequent blending struggles. Completely my fault tho, so…
I don’t know if you guys are familiar with her, since the name seems rather generic yeah? But British Beauty Blogger is one of my personal favourite bloggers. I like her because she gets a bit of everything, skincare, hair care, makeup and she’s thorough. She covers all skin tones and skin types, drug store and high end brands. The lady Jane knows her stuff.
So I was pretty stoked when I realised that she and MR had got together and had a love child. Listen, I wasn’t prepared. I thought I was, but really? I wasn’t, not for all that colour. First tip, don’t dig your brush into the pans, you’ll regret it. You’re just not grown enough for all that pigmentation.
This is the only item that I’d picked up from the Double Duty line. If you remember I’d said that I didn’t care for most of the line, and I don’t but these two little palettes were just so cute that I couldn’t resist. The one that I got, Sultry Star Power, I chose simply because the blush looked doable for my skin tone. I wasn’t really sold on the colours in the palette, but as usual Tarte outfoxed me with their eye shadows.
This is my first bonafide Jouer purchase. I remember that I got a lip gloss in a Glossybox some time ago, and while I thought it was ok, I didn’t run out and get a bunch of stuff from the brand because I wasn’t all that impressed cause, I’m not a gloss kinda chick. And real talk? It seemed like a real white identified line.
